One other off-camera location will have significant impact: the Kalseru trading post in an archipelago off the southern continent coast. Find out a little bit about what makes each place unique. Starmount Weyr (webpage pending)Information pending. Kalseru Trading PostKalseru is sometimes called a Weyr or Tradeweyr, but its population specifically denies at least the former allegation. Though the small community, settled in an archipelago off the southern continent coast, does house a number of dragonriders, it has never had a gold and claims to never want one resident. Nor does it hold a seat on the Weyr Council, instead acting very much as if it were one of the notoriously independent southern continent trading families. Its land is exceptionally arid, a current of cold water pulling the moisture out of the air, so it depends wholly on some small amount of foraging (its negotiations with the Weyr-unfriendly southern continent Holders are reportedly always a bit touchy) and what it does best: provide perishable, exotic, and otherwise difficult tradegoods, depending on its dragonriders for a very special niche economy. Kalseru has stated its support of the Starmount Project, although some wonder at its reasons for being so openly friendly toward a would-be Weyr given its carefully neutral relations with the others. While it has liaison riders who work with all the other Weyrs, those delegated to Starmount have been notably active and involved. |
