What is FrostFire MUSH?

Based on Anne McCaffrey's The Dragonriders of Pern® series and set close to the start of the Tenth Pass, the timeline of FrostFire runs with the books up until the discovery of the ancient's settlement at Landing. AIVAS does exist; however in our timeline the AI unit is damaged, and little progress has been made learning about Landing.

However, this Pass looks likely to be extremely bad, with geological upheavals shaking the planet, destroying settlements, and the Red Star looms ugly and bright - it appears to have a few turns yet before it will sit between the stones of Weyr Rims, but already it stirs dread and brings death.

And what makes us special?

So, you're looking into FrostFire, are you? Wondering what makes us different from the glut of other PernMUSHes out there? Then you're in luck! We like to think we're one of the most unique of the Perns out there. Here're a few highlights:

  • open character creation: Virtually all types of character are open for creation, treated with the same set of light approval guidelines all around. Dragonrider? Crafter? You can make it from the start. (There are a couple of limits, of course, but hey-- some things just have to be.)
  • light standards: Be sane. Fit our theme. Learn to use a spellchecker if you need one. We're open to most concepts - as long as you can give us a good, reasonable explanation? We're liable to let you give it a whirl.
  • player-dragon code: Dragonriders can choose to have someone (of their choice) actually be able to log in and roleplay as their lifemate.
  • player-created grid: We have brand-new code that will be implemented to allow players to actually re-desc public rooms (whether fully or partially) - everyone will be involved as much as they like in the building of Starmount Weyr, and will have an active hand in keeping a dynamic, roleplay-modifiable environment in the future. Think roomdescs as wiki entries and you've got a fair idea of how it goes.
  • easy plotting: We're pretty easygoing about approving plot ideas, especially since we only even need to approve them if it's something your character can't do or needs NPC support with. Got a character who's driving a plot idea? Then you don't need us. Go do it. We're all about player-power.
  • guaranteed Impression: If you're approved and on the grid, you'll Impress (with the exception of golds-- yeah, yeah, as usual). You can ask for randomization, but if you want to Impress, you will.
  • vote-based gold Impression: Gold applicants will be posted publically and a MUSH-wide approved-player vote taken to determine the person who gets it.

... and more. Drop by and find out for yourself!
